our objective

Our objective for the Central City project was to rejuvenate their brand identity and marketing strategies, aligning them with the tagline "City Living, Made Simple." Our goal was to simplify city living for residents while simultaneously elevating Central City's marketing efforts to ensure a cohesive and memorable brand experience across all touchpoints.


Central City in Surrey, British Columbia, is a vibrant mixed-use centre that combines over 140 retail stores, restaurants, and services with educational facilities, including a Simon Fraser University campus, and a AAA office tower. This unique setup facilitates a dynamic environment where shopping, working, and learning converge, catering to the needs of a diverse community. Enhanced by excellent transportation links, including proximity to the regional SkyTrain system, Central City stands out as a bustling hub in Surrey, drawing visitors for a variety of purposes and contributing to the area's urban vibrancy.

The primary goal of our project with Central City was to rejuvenate its brand identity and bolster its position as a leading mixed-use centre in Surrey, British Columbia. This encompassed a comprehensive brand refresh, the development of a new tagline and style, and the formulation of a strategic marketing plan aimed at enhancing visibility, engagement, retailer interest, and foot traffic to the centre.

The primary challenge was to revitalize Central City’s brand image in a way that resonated with both existing and new customers, while also reflecting the centre's unique combination of retail, educational, and office spaces. Central City needed to establish a stronger, more cohesive brand identity that would not only stand out in a competitive market but also appeal to a broader demographic. The challenge extended to integrating this new brand identity across all marketing channels and materials, ensuring consistency, and fostering a renewed sense of community engagement and loyalty. The project required a delicate balance between innovation and the preservation of Central City’s established values and reputation, aiming to attract a wider audience without alienating the centre's current clientele.

Our Approach:

  • In our project to revitalize Central City's brand image, we embraced a holistic approach that aimed to mirror the vibrant and dynamic essence of its mixed-use environment, encompassing retail, educational, and office spaces. This rejuvenation involved a nuanced refresh of the Central City logo, offering multiple options to ensure versatility and appeal across various platforms and media. We meticulously selected font choices that resonate with the brand's forward-looking ethos while ensuring readability and aesthetic harmony across digital and physical mediums. Our style direction was carefully curated to reflect Central City's innovative and inclusive spirit, incorporating a modern and cohesive colour palette that enhances brand recognition and emotional connection with the audience. The introduction of patterns added an additional layer of visual interest, aiding in the creation of a distinctive and memorable brand identity. These elements combined to form a refreshed brand image that not only honours the legacy of Central City but also propels it into the future, ready to engage and inspire a new generation of visitors and stakeholders.

  • A new tagline; City Living, Made Simple, was crafted to encapsulate the essence of Central City, emphasizing its role as a hub for shopping, working, and learning. The style guide was developed to ensure consistency across all brand communications, reinforcing the new brand identity.

  • A detailed marketing plan was devised, outlining key strategies and initiatives aimed at driving brand awareness and customer engagement. This included digital marketing campaigns, social media engagement strategies, and community events to position Central City as a central hub in Surrey.

  • To facilitate consistent brand messaging, templates and a comprehensive brand kit were created. These resources include logo variations, colour palettes, typography guidelines, and other essential branding elements.

  • A suite of marketing materials was developed to support the brand refresh and marketing initiatives. This included leasing brochures, digital assets, social media graphics and signage, all designed to enhance the brand's visibility and appeal.

  • To ensure the seamless adoption and implementation of Central City's new brand identity and marketing strategy, we participated in a training session with the marketing team at Central City. This program provided an in-depth understanding of the updated brand guidelines, ensuring consistency and coherence across all communication channels. Additionally, the training delved into innovative content creation strategies for social media, with a special focus on crafting engaging reels and posts that resonate with the target audience. This initiative empowered the Central City marketing team with the knowledge and tools needed to effectively communicate the refreshed brand message, fostering a stronger connection with the community, and elevating the overall brand experience.

  • Our efforts led to the successful transition of Central City's brand identity across its in-centre and online platforms and customer touchpoints. The comprehensive update included the website, social media profiles, digital advertising campaigns, and email communications, all of which now reflect the newly established brand guidelines. These actions not only significantly enhanced brand recognition but also improved the user experience across all customer touchpoints. The results were a testament to our goal of blending aesthetics with functionality, creating an engaging customer journey that successfully supported our marketing objectives and reinforced brand values.
